Companio Bakery is a small friendly artisan bakery in Manchester producing fresh sourdough breads, speciality breads, pastries, vienoisserie and savouries, all handmade on the premises daily. We sell directly from our bakery on Radium Street, Ancoats.

Join us for this hands-on course devoted to artisan bread. You’ll learn how to make & bake our classic Ancoats white, a white sourdough with a little wholewheat at heart for extra flavour and a traditional baguette with wheat leaven.

We make real bread! Real Bread is made without the use of processing aids or any other artificial additives. The only ingredients essential to making bread are flour, water, yeast (commercial or natural) and salt. Anything else is unnecessary. Real bread is better for you, your community & for the planet.

Real Bread is made with simple, natural ingredients, proven over many centuries to be a beneficial part of the human diet. Money spent with local independent bakeries provides a real boost to local economies and can bring traditional skills to members of local communities as well as creating a place of social interaction for local people. A neighbourhood baker reduces food miles by producing Real Bread close to or even at the point of sale, especially if using flour milled from locally-grown grain. Real Bread is nothing fancy and has nothing to hide.
